Spring is Coming!!

I am so relieved that spring is FINALLY right around the corner! The past few days have been a tad bit warmer and I am loving every second. We do already have a possibility of flurries again where I live on Friday BUT I’m going to ignore that!

So what does Spring mean for you?? For me, it means iced coffee, bright manicures, lighter jackets, lighter hair color (!), sandals, (which mean pedicures), night drives, windows down, ice cream, walks in the park, … and that IT’S TIME TO GET TAN! 🙂

I will admit I am a fan of the tanning bed. This is my absolute favorite time of year to hop in the tanning bed, get some rays and pump myself up for the warmer weather that’s about to come! However, I want to recommend a sunless product to use as either to compliment your fake tan or to give you a completely sunless tan. And that is Novell’s new “Dancing with the Stars” line. Novell, a leader in the self-tanning industry, teamed up with ABC to launch this line and it’s pretty great.

Skin perfectorI tried the ENDURANCE color boosting skin perfector, and I really like it. It makes your skin feel smooth while evening out your skin tone. In the past, I have tried sunless tanning lotions that made me look super orange so I took it easy on this one. But after just one use I noticed it gave me a glow and made me look a shade darker. I love using this while going to the tanning salon because it really does deepen your tan, especially while starting up the tanning bed process again. I can really see myself using this lotion before an event, to maintain and deepen my tan. Plus, this lotion actually does a lot of different things for your skin. It’s a color corrector, which I personally always need on my face to help even out my skin tone, it’s moisturizing, and as I’ve already implied, it extends your color while tanning/sunless tanning.

Starting now, getting a “ten” from at-home self-tanning is as simple as picking the right partner – Dancing with the Stars Sunless Collection by Norvell. That’s because Norvell has done all the fancy footwork for consumers, putting its extensive knowledge of the art and science of sunless tanning into each and every bottle. “‘There’s no doubt that “Dancing with the Stars” has been a driving force in the rapid growth of sunless tanning, one of the beauty industry’s hottest categories, ” said Rick Norvell, president of the family owned, Tennessee-based company that has led the U.S. professional spray tanning industry for more than 20 years. “We’re excited to partner with the show to help consumers get that healthy, bronzed just-off-the-beach look they love… at home.”

What I Wore: Outfit of the Day

Today I just loved my outfit and a few people complimented it, so I decided I’d post about it!

I wore a hot pink button down from American Eagle, a denim pencil skirt from Target cinched with a black waist belt from Nine West, and mint flats from Dollhouse.  I also had mint nails to match my flats! (These items are not the ones pictured; I recreated my outfit on polyvore.)

Trend to Try: Flash Tattoos

This trend is catching on like crazy. I’ve seen it in magazines, such as vogue, and at work! We tried them out at Raylon and love them! The gold and silver really stand out on your skin and looks so different from any tattoos you’ve seen before.

Here are the tattoos I tried out. The bracelet and the ring are the best examples of the trend, and the tattoos on my foot and arm are more like regular temporary tattoos.

Find the trend at flashtat.com. The tattoos we tried are the Goldfish Kiss pack.

Here’s what the pack looks like:

Pretty cool, right?

How to Wear Harem Pants to Work

Harem pants are awesome. They’re light, comfortable, and come in all different colors and designs. But sometimes it’s hard to know what to pair them with or whether or not they’re appropriate. My advice is to turn to basics. Most harem pants have an intricate design or bright colors so you want to balance that out with a basic top. Today I wore a gray pair with a white tee. The gray pair that I have from Aerie could be matched with many different colored/ patterned tops but since I wore them to work I still chose a basic white t-shirt.

Because this outfit is so basic, I chose to add color by pairing it with my favorite jeweled sandals.

I have another pair of harem pants from Old Navy that are not as versatile. They are navy blue with a bright pink pattern which makes them harder to match.
With these (again) I would wear a white t-shirt. But if you don’t mind looking “matchy-matchy” you can wear a shirt that matches one of the colors in the pattern of the pants. So with my pink and blue harem pants, another option I would wear is a hot pink shirt to match them.

Here are some other examples of the trend:

Redken Goodies Haul

Here is my haul of Redken beauty products that I was given to try out on my first day working at Raylon! I really like all of these products so far. They all work really well and do what they’re supposed to do. I’ve only been trying out the Blonde Idol Custom-Tone Conditioners for a few days so I haven’t seen much change yet but I’ve been told they definitely work!

Do you have any of these products or a different Redken product that you love?? Let me know!

Summer Nail Inspiration

My summer nail inspiration came from Glamour Magazine’s July Issue. These “perfect nail combos” are just right for summer. I love little articles like this because you can either try their ideas or they can give you great ideas of your own!

glamour

I was inspired by “The Office” nail combination. I absolutely love the orange and gold duo because those colors really represent summer in my mind. So, instead of buying the colors they list in this article (which was totally tempting) I decided to recreate the color combo with polishes I already own. Luckily I have oranges and golds already, so I decided to use my Milani’s “Juicy Glo” + Milani’s “Golden Goddess” + China Glaze’s “Blonde Bombshell.”polish

Here’s how I did my combination:

What’s your favorite summer nail combo?

This Past Month…

I can’t believe it’s been almost a month since I last posted already!

So, a quick update on my life since my last post:

1. I turned 22 🙂

2. Soon after my birthday I was in a car accident that landed me in the ER but no worries! I was just very sore and didn’t need any stitches. (thank god)

3. I got a job!!!!!!! Well, it’s a paid internship, but it’s exactly what I was hoping to find!! I started working for Raylon last week 🙂logo_raylon

4. Raylon is a Professional Salon Products Distributor and on my first day I got  some Redken products to try. I’m loving them so I’ll probably post about them soon !

I’ve also been enjoying some down time at the pool; my favorite way to spend summer!
